7 things you should really know about the Freestyle Airbag

Velocity Valley’s Freestyle Airbag is your ticket to throw yourself out there (literally) and do what really takes you out of your comfort zone to master your ride. It’s just you and your bike, doing what you love – big flips and tricks that will make you or anyone watching go oooh and aahh.

So, if you’re keen on the Freestyle Airbag, here’s just a few important things to keep in mind before you ride:

  1. You get 3 ramps to choose from

There are different heights of ramps to choose from: beginner, intermediate and an advanced (3-metre) ramp with the drop in ramp sitting 6-metres up. You can go as little or as big as you want.

  1. It’s a 15m x 10m Airbag

It’s massive size means you can confidently and safely go for some big air and flips that you’ve always wanted to but haven’t yet dared to do. From no-handers to 360s, the classic tabletop to no-footers, you can let your imagine fly with all the different aerial stunts you can test out here.

  1. The only one of its kind in NZ

Velocity Valley is home to the only Freestyle Airbag in the entire country. As New Zealand’s only dedicated bike airbag, this is where you can train freestyle tricks and dare to take your ride to the next level.

  1. It’s slippery when wet

So when it rains, we can’t operate the Freestyle Airbag and we close it for obvious safety reasons. Luckily we are open every day of the year and have 5 other thrilling experiences that operate rain or shine at Velocity Valley for you to do while waiting out the rain.

  1. There’s no pre-booking required

Once you purchase your voucher, you can go when it suits you. You get 2 hrs of ride time to do as many jumps as you’d like. Freestyle Airbag runs 9-5 am daily as long as it’s not raining.

  1. It’s BYO bike and safety gear

Ride to your heart’s content with this exhilarating BYO bike experience. You bring your trusty bike and the following safety gear: full face helmet (recommended) otherwise bike helmet will suffice, knee pads and elbow pads.  If you don’t have any of these items, limited stock can be hired from reception so you’re sorted!
